Module 20 captures the excitement of the 2024 Summer Olympics held in the city of Paris and environs. In addition to documenting the innovative ways existing architecture and temporary facilities were used, the event provided an opportunity to photograph a variety of
architectural monuments and important art works in museums by Matisse, Monet, and Van Gogh, to name a few. Architectural highlights include complete documentation of the Foundation Louis Vuitton building by Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando’s addition to the Bourse de Commerce,
Olivier Brochet’s transformation of the Orangerie, and the innovative modern Villa Cavrois by Robert Mallet-Stevens. From the U.S., an important and almost entirely intact example of Organic Modernism from 1959 was photographed, with spectacular views of the Pacific
Ocean, by Aaron G. Green, one of Frank Lloyd Wrights most talented and original disciples. Complete coverage of the new SUMMIT One Vanderbilt Observatory by Kohn Pedersen Fox blending art, technology and architecture with stunning views of New York city is included.
The city of Valletta in Malta, one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world, is explored in detail, from its Grand Harbor, Knights Hospitaller fortifications, Baroque palaces, gardens, and churches, along with remnants of the heroic World War II siege.
Excellent coverage of the ancient world includes: the Neolithic Ggantija site on the island of Gozo; the Greek and Roman remains of the powerful city-state of Syracuse in Sicily: the extensive thermal bath complex at Baiae, a famous Roman resort on the Bay of Naples;
and Aquileia, the strategic frontier Roman city in northeast Italy that was one of the world's largest cities in the 2nd century CE. And, there is plenty more to explore.
